Established under "Open Door Policy" of Govt.of India in August 1962 as a Non-Govt.Polytechnic Khurai started functioning as an Institution of Technical Education for Three Diploma in Engineering Programmes ,viz Civil ,Mechanical  and Electrical . Later on it was taken over by the Govt. of M.P. in November 1984. The present intake is of 180 students every year ,60 each branch.

  The Institution has many firsts to its credit:

•  It was the first  Polytechnic in the state of M.P. to be designated as community Polytechnic by Govt.of India.

• It was the first Polytechnic in the State to have established its own Entrepreneurship Development Cell.

•  It was again the first Polytechnic in the State to have EMD & IIPC ("Entrepreneurship & Management Development " and " Institute -Industry Partnership Cell" ) Schemes of AICTE.

• A two year Post-Diploma in rural Technology and Management was also started and run for 3 batches for the first time in the State in this Polytechnic College.

  Under World Bank Assistance ,All the laboratories of the Institution are well equipped and all modern     equipment ,instruments and machineries including CNC machines are available for students " Practical training".
